YAY OR NAY: TINY DANZA

We get allot of submissions mang. A-LLOT. Hard to go thru em all but we do, some we just don’t even entertain, some we automatically feel (I.E. Sonnymoon) & some we’re on the fence about. We may like it, but do the faithful dig it too? Hence the whole YAY or NAY thing we do round these parts. It’s our way of giving said artist some light while @ the same time allowing you to decide for yourself. It also lowkey helps us know what avenues we can take you on cuz you know our eclectic ears be travelin’! With that being said, what do you think about this group right here by the name of Tiny Danza (I think Who’s The Boss everytime I see this name) I personally dig this song right here below, reminds me of some early Jamiroquai meets Mr. J. Medeiros to me (well @ least this song does). Has allot of energy & flava. Like I said, I dig it. What about you?

YAY OR NAY: CLOUDEATER – GREATEST TRAGEDY EP

Firstly, let me give me most sincere apologies to the good people of Cloudeater (especially YOU Sam) for being a slackass and posting this soooo late. This was originally sent to me in July when it first dropped for me to post as a Yay or Nay and it has been sitting comfortably in my inbox since then (*double facepalm*). BUT the great thing about good music is that its never to late to share, so without further ado, I would like to present to you Cloudeater, a local Atlanta band that is producing some pretty solid music in my opinion. The lead singer Sam is a good friend of mine and old school buddy from back in Chicago and at Morehouse and I must say, dude has lungs on em. YAY OR NAY: SULAIMAN & MATHIEN – KEEP RUNNIN’

I rarely post shit up that I’m involved in directly, but this is just too dope to not share with the people. Singer/songwriter Mathien and I recently got in the lab to see what kind of new sound we could make together, and what has begun to emerge is a refreshing mix of great lyrics, dope melodies, and fantastic songs that shall surely stand the test of time. That’s the motive! Check out Keep Runnin’, produced by Mathien and surely a great sign of more fresh music to come. Indulge, then VOTE! You shall not be disappointed.

YAY OR NAY: JEANINE

Jeanine’s no newcomer to this music thing. Grammy-nominated songwriter Jeanine Smith has had her share of ups and downs since choosing to enter the music business.  She got her first “break” in May of 2002 when Anthony Hamilton spotted her singing “Moody’s Mood for Love” on the pa system of a promotional truck outside of Philadelphia’s Five Spot club during the popular “Black Lily” event. Jade – Beautiful Problems

“Jade is passionate about her music. She lives and breathes it.” Jade’s father replies when asked about his daughter’s chosen career. “She was born to sing. She’ll die doing it.” Nepotism aside, after hearing her voice it doesn’t take long to see what he’s talking about. Jade has a giant spirit to match her giant voice and the ability to transport her listener to a transcendent state of head bobbing and lip sync-ing very few artists can do.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, a pastors daughter, Jade grew up in a non-traditional Puerto Rican household, “I wish I knew more Spanish and how to cook rice. Mom made Chinese food and blasted Gloria Gaynor.” Music is something that came very naturally to Jade early on, “especially in the shower…at the top of my lungs.” Soon, she began to sing in places outside the confines of her bathroom, and it wasn’t long after that, she began to write her own songs and create her own soundtrack. “It is the process of telling stories,” which she says, “is one of the most amazing gifts anyone can have.”

The homie Roosevelt Treasurechest sent this over to me today, and I’ve been on the fence about Dave Coresh for awhile now. He’s a young cat from Chicago who’s been doing his thing in terms of projects and performances, and as you know Blind I is for the Kids, so I had to give him a shot on the site. This is his 2nd installement of the Boy Wonder mixtape series, and I wanted to get the opinion of the Blind I family with this jawn. One thing that is refreshing about this young cat is, he’s not rhyming over other people’s beats! The Rocketeers – “Artist From The Start”

We’re gonna start something new around here! Blind I has set itself apart from other music sites by allowing the people to submit joints from acts that THEY think are the next big thing. Having fully embraced this quality, we have decided to hit you guys with the new YAY or NAY category of posts where we introduce acts you may not have seen or heard and let you be the judge. No maybe so’s or things of that nature, just simply is it ILL or is it in need of some work. Hopefully we’ll have some fun with this and also encourage people to submit their music and get a good idea of what the good people with GREAT ears that visit Blind I have to say about it.

First up is the new group hailing from Chicago, IL. that rocks under the name The Rocketeers (Myspace). The group is comprised of lead MC D-Win and producer Johnny Rocket, and their music is inspired by groups such as N.E.R.D., CRS, Outkast, and Gnarls Barkley to name a few. The Rocketeers are currently working on their EP, “Blue Clouds, White Skies“, scheduled for release in ’09.
