Putting it down for SJ is the next generation of DJ/Producers who are about to shake things up. Already getting headnods from of the likes of The Bangerz and 4OneFunk Bevmo is certainly winning the right crowd over. Individually DJ’s Shea, R-Cade, Dstrukt, and SmoovGroovs have held down their own hustles from NorCal to SoCal and have decided to combine their talents for a common cause. Good music! You’ll get a good sample of their styles in this mix. From Hip Hop, Turntablism, House, Future Funk, and Electronic genres I have no doubt this is going to be bumping in your ride for a long time. Be on the look out for more mixes and original music from these cats soon. Track list after the drop.

I was introduced to The Trickaz (Pho & DJ iRaize) ala my friend Jase (who DJs Reggae/Dubstep/Drum&Bass) out in Saigon. I didn’t know what to expect from these Vietnamese cats from France but I’m glad I didn’t come with any expectations. Dudes seriously KILL it on the MPCs and turntables!

If you don’t believe me check out the clips after the drop. Here’s an album they made free to the public, mostly original works and remixes from 2005. With winning numerous contests under their belts and joining the Quiksilver team ($$$) the future looks damn good for these French boys. Holla at a fellow ‘Nammer!

Hailing from San Francisco and Oakland, Secret Sidewalk is Mike Boo, Puzzle, and Asonic Garcia. Their use of electronic tools such as samplers, synthesizers, and self-built sound modules is with an approach that’s of true musicianship. No programmed loops, no pressing play, it’s ALL LIVE.

They share the sensibilities of live beatsmiths, but their sound transcends to something much deeper and more complex. There is a wide range of interests and influences amongst the trio, which translates into a very diverse sound, from song to song, as you will hear in their live sets and on their recordings. In April the band will debut their live set, and with many shows to follow and an album in the works.

REST IN PEACE GRANDMASTER ROC RAIDA

I received sad news today. We lost one of THE greatest DJs ever to grace the world. I’ve been a fan of Roc Raida and The X-Ecutioners since seeing them in that infamous battle in 1997 with the Invisibl Skratch Piklz.

He helped spread turntablism to new heights and Hip Hop further through his talents and hard work. Rest in power brother.
