Blind I faithful, it’s been a minute since we’ve had the chance to consistently hit you with one of the major pillars in which Blind I was built upon – the cold ass compilation. Guess what though? We’re back in there like swim wear. I present to you my new compilation series, TESL.A., an ode to not only my recent departure from my birthplace of Chicago to Los Angeles, but also to honor the greatest inventor not named Leonardo DaVinci, Mr. Nikola Tesla. Now I know people are thinking, what the hell does Tesla have to do with cold ass music? Imagine a maddening scientist’s moves around a recording studio, and you’ll begin to understand the connection as you rock with the songs I’ve picked for your listening pleasure. All genres, no boundaries. Hit the jump for the track listing/download link and partake!

NYC! Blind I is giving away FIVE tickets to see Tiron & Ayomari, Blu, Chris Turner, Kooley High, Scienze, Fresh Daily and DJ Prince, February 1st at Public Assembly in Brooklyn. All you have to do to enter is follow us on Twitter and shoot us an email telling us why you’re a deserving Blind I faithful (firstname.lastname@example.org). We will announce the winners on Monday! In the meantime, if you don’t have the headliners’ new music check out Tiron & Ayomari’s A Sucker For Pumps and Blu x Exile’s Give Me My Flowers While I Can Smell Them.
For those of you guys who remember TiRon’s MSTRD or Ayomari’s The PB&J Solution, their new project ‘A Sucker For Pumps’ is a clear example of how good these guys actually are – with more time and more work put into their product they’ve matured their sound in a way that I feel like some of their west coast associates have failed to do. Furthermore, with features from the likes of BJ The Chicago Kid, Thundercat, D.R.U.G.S., Yummy Bingham and more, this project is soon to be in rotation in a bunch of new spots where Tiron & Ayomari’s name haven’t rang out yet….mark my words!
If you’re in New York City right now you’re probably sorting through multiple event listings trying to find the one that suits you. Tonight, Homebase NYC and Putmeonit are joining forces to throw a showcase with a solid lineup that includes Blu, Homeboy Sandman, The Kickdrums, TiRon, OliverDaysoul and many more. Blind I will be in the building at Brooklyn’s Southpaw.
We can’t wait to see you Saturday at Onyx. Get your tickets now.
Here are the visuals for TiRon’s song “Down” from the MSTRD mixtape. Simple, yet effective.
So you already know the deal & how we feel about the whole departure of the Fat Beats stores. Sucks. But not really cuz they still are going to be doing big thangs in various formats, so I guess it’s cool & growth & all that other jazz. Anyways, the NYC farewell jump off was filled to the brim of dope artists who had made Fat Beat NYC their home so it is only fitting that they mirror the same for the LA farewell & as you can see to the right (click pic to enlarge), that they are NOT playin! I mean DAMN!!! I know the NBA will be playing the All Star game @ Staples this season but this schitt right here my ninja? This is LA’s All Star Hip Hop fest for the ages! You got OG spitters from LA’s underground elite from Erule to Volume 10, to LA’s G’d up from the chucks up spitters MC Eiht to Kurupt, a face melt of beats from LA producers Dibiase to Exile as well as a performace from the Gawdz of LA style Freestyle Fellowship! That aint even scratching the surface tho! Peep the line up for each day & plan accordingly. You’re welcome. Below is my favorite song from Erule & still in my top 10 all time Hip Hop songs ever.
Erule – Listen Up
Oh how I love that song. Anyways… if you in LA you know what to do! & if you aint you know what you NEED to do. Peep the official statement after the jump. & once again major Jedi Respecognition to the entire Fat Beats staff!
Blind I hitting you with mad new music to inspire you through your daily routine! I was gonna drop this on the 1st but things got hectic and you know…Independence Day Weekend will have you off your square quick! But I’ve redeemed myself by coming through to drop these heatrocks on your brain! Black Milk, Vic Spencer and I, Kid Cudi, Curren$y, Big Boi, Aloe Blacc, The Roots, Vic Mensa, TiRon, The Cool Kids, Killer Mike, Ratatat, J. Cole, Janelle Monáe, Phil Adé, and a host of special guests to get your July hotter than it already is! Ride to this….and partake!

Tiron! I’m sorry I’m tardy to the party my dude, I didn’t get it in my inbox! This is the new mixtape from the homie TIRON in collaboration with Boyd and them over at Society. I’d been waiting awhile for this, that’s why I was hella salty when I saw it making the rounds on the net. Oh well, it’s still dope music and you should definitely grab this! Check out “The Richers” featuring Blu and Asher Roth and produced by Oddisee, and then you know what to do…PARTAKE!

TiRon recently released the full version of the Oddisee-produced “60901” track that I’ve been bumping the snippet of for a few weeks. I love the vibe of this joint, and as I’ve expressed before in regards to TiRon, it’s dope that he’s representing Kankakee instead of Chicago, cause the hometown needs love too. But I’ll still claim him as Chi City. Indulge!
TiRon – 60901
You think you know, but you have no idea. Even us privileged enough to be in the know, the people who check out Blind I and fall in love with the music, are still unaware of what these artists will be able to bring to the world in the near future. It’s crazy cause while out at CMJ last year, TiRon and & spoke about how he was from Kankakee, Illinois, and I was taken aback by his journey. It’s always interesting to hear unique points of view, especially like this 60901 snippet laid over a super-dope Oddissee beat (60901 happens to be Kankakee’s area code). TiRon‘s at our Quality! Showcase on Friday, so come check him out and indulge in the snippet until Mustard drops.
