There are a few reasons I decided to do this compilation. First, I lived in the 757 Virginia Beach area for half of my high school experience and I must say that the radio down there is consistently two steps ahead. Through The Neptunes, Timbaland, Missy Elliott all the way back to vets like Teddy Riley, the 757 has clearly proven to be a hotbed for musical creativity. Aside from that, during this era every artist you see in the cover artwork from our wonderful NO had a collective synergy and a distinct sound that was simply indelible.  The samples used, the drum machine skills, the sound effects and the overall style has never been fully duplicated. And none of them rapped that great but somehow every song was bounce-worthy enough to overcompensate. I culled some of my favorite Tim, Missy, Ginuwine, Playa and Aaliyah joints that embodied their movement to pay homage.  I had to fish some of the CDs out of my collection and convert them to MP3s (see: time consuming) so you better enjoy.

TIMBALAND AND MAGOO – FRIED CHICKEN (FEAT. SEBASTIAN)

‘Timbaland Thursday‘ as the legendary VA producer is calling it now, has started bearing some real fruit. I’m not sure if this is brand new or not, but it’s definitely classic Timbaland shit and features some old names like Magoo and Sebastian. “Fried Chicken” has a dope feel to it and automatically appealed to the rapper in me. Enough talk, I got some food to eat. Partake!

All of a sudden, this new joint from Missy & Timbaland appears and the beat is knocking so hard I had a flashback and instantly remembered what Timbaland & Misdemeanor are capable of! Hello Blind I. Me again. Before life became ultra busy, I used to write lots of poems. I have books full. To me, these mixes are kind of like musical poems. They’re a glimpse into my head. This edition is full of drums, drums and more DRUMS (Chocolate Star) and SYNTHESIZERS (Dam Funk). Both equally rendezvous-like if you tap your imagination. Round of applause to NO for the artwork. He and $ are amazing at what they do. Enough rambling.
