SULAIMAN-PAST PERFECT

I stopped what I was doing to immediately check out and post $ulaiman’s new project Past Perfect. The phrase “steel sharpens steel” usually applies to a symbiotic relationship, but when it comes to Suli, he’s sharpening his own skills through diligence, hard work and consistency. I’ve listened to every tape he’s put out (check the archives) and this project shows incredible range. Whether production wise or lyrically, there is something for everyone on Past Perfect. Songs to groove to, zone out to, dance to. A little bit of everything! I pulled out a few of my favorites for you but do yourself a favor and hit the skip for the tracklist, link and some recent footage of him at Onyx 2.0. #Church

I’ve been meaning to post this for a few days but life got in the way so please grant me a #Latepass! Teedra fans are kind of like a cult following. Ever since she dropped Complex Simplicity in 2004, we’ve been checking for new material. She’s released multiple mixtapes and the consistency/quality has varied. But with her newest gem, Luxurious Undergrind, the old Teedra has resurfaced. She recently signed to Maybach Music Group too, so that means a sophomore album is on the way. Yeeee!

BLIND I SAYS GO! MARCH 2010

It’s March already! Truthfully I couldn’t be happier…the outlook on this year is bright, there’s a ton of work being done so the results are sure to be beautiful, and the phrase Blind I Says GO! has never meant so much as it does right now. You wake up one day, decide to start dreaming and just start DOING. I used to sit back with my philosophical thoughts and say like Kanye did in the chorus to Common’s “The Corner” – I wish I could GIVE you this feeling…but alas this platform that we’ve created of outstanding musical compilations has given me a medium by which I can hopefully inspire our listeners to get up and GO! because thinking is overrated! Ha! With all that being said, I’ve compiled what I’ll honestly say is my favorite – if not Top 5 – Blind I Says GO! compilations, and trust, I now have 42 in total to choose from! Everything flows, everything’s masterful, everything should give you the steam you need to power your engine. So F*CK a groundhog, we’re starting Springtime right now. Ready….set….GO!

Despite the critical acclaim Teedra Moses’ debut album, Complex Simplicity received, only members of her cult following can keep tabs her quietly powerful endeavors.  The R &B songbird recently released a mixtape titled Lionhearted:Young Hustla Vol. 3, which is a musical foray into a slightly new direction. Moses collaborated with the likes of 9th Wonder and Raheem DeVaughn on the latest effort, providing a lovely backdrop for her sultry vocals.
