Shit’s moving nowadays. SXSW is upon us, great things are bubbling in the music scene, and of course the March 2011 edition of Blind I Says GO! is right on time to give you the freshest, sonically superb product from the artists you NEED to be in tune with. Chip, Adele, Wiz, Kenna, Lupe, Raekwon, Pusha, Curren$y, who you should all know on a first-name basis by now, joined by newcomers Jhene Aiko, Tree, and Action Bronson, compile a stellar collection that I must say has a bit of a Napoleon complex – short but packing a shitload of heat. I turn 25 on Saturday, and to echo my current musical mood I decided to make this month’s Blind I Says GO! all about the raps! Well, mostly about the raps. Amidst songs featuring Lupe Fiasco, Madlib, Kidz In The Hall, Curren$y, Mikkey Halsted, Co$$, Blu, Styles P, Freddie Gibbs, Kendrick Lamar, Gucci Mane, Tabi Bonney, Dom Kennedy, Gilbere Forté, Pac Div, Stalley, and Martin & Malcolm, there’s a bit of soul in this mix compliments of Spree Wilson, Esthero, and some unreleased EARLY production from Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes for a R&B singer named Mike E. who was produced by Teddy Riley back when the Neptunes duo was ghost-producing for the legend. PHIL ADE x DON CANNON-THE LETTERMAN MIXTAPE

Phil Ade was a  part of our SXSW Quality! showcase and we’ve been betting on him ever since. The DMV rapper debuted with Starting on JV last year, and now he and Don Cannon are back with The Letterman. Both figuratively, and literally, he’s earning his place and expanding his audience. The mixtape also features Wale, Raekwon and Tabi Bonney.

I’ll admit, before we featured Tabi on our SXSW showcase this past spring, I was only topically aware of his steez. Now he’s directing videos and dropping project that make my head nod.
