SXSW has officially begun! It’s hard to believe that it’s been two years since our Quality! showcase at SXSW. This year, we’ve teamed up with Stones Throw and Insect Records to put together a really dope producer showcase. We’ve got some amazing talent on board: Georgia Anne Muldrow, Dudley Perkins, B. Lewis, Thelonious Martin, Jonwayne, Computer Jay, Jonti, Kone, SelfSays, Hawthorne Headhunters, Soundfounders and more. It’s going to be a lovely evening of good music, drinks and live artwork at the Volstead. Fortunately, most of the Blind I staff will be in Austin this year so come check us out (8pm-2am) and spread the word.

Steve Arrington x Dam Funk - Goin' Hard by stonesthrow

Now sometimes OGs gotta be OGs. I love it when 2 musical innovators come together to create something that just kills it. Steve Arrington and Dam Funk have gotten together to produce an album that can only be described as classic.

Steve Arrington is one of those “what ever happened to” stories from the soul/funk movement of the 1980s. His songs have been sampled by the likes of Jay-Z, Jermaine Dupri, Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Snoop, LL Cool J, Mariah Carey, and N.W.A. His music also helped create the blueprint of 90’s west coast g-funk music along with Zapp and George Clinton.
