BLIND I/PST EVENT: SUMMER SOUL SERIES W/ SONNYMOON

As a part of our Blind I Summer Soul Series, we’ve teamed up with Pacific Standard Time, DJ Sake One, Fran Boogie and  DJ Sloepoke to not only welcome Sonnymoon to the Bay Area for an incredible show, but to also  celebrate our very own Noahdeeakili’s birthday! Ahhh yes. My friend Amelia over at Putmeonit attended our Quality! showcase at SXSW and she got this incredible footage of Sonnymoon. They were the last to perform and possibly the most anticipated act on our roster. Those that had been bumping their debut EP, Golden Age, were reciting the lyrics to “Gills and Wings” and “Nursery Boys.” Everyone else left our show intrigued. Needless to say, Sonnymoon is on the verge of their big break and this video sums up all the reasons why in 8 minutes. We were all onstage but shouts to Meezy for the ill cameo. Love it.

MAKESHIFT- THE SLEEPLESS BEAT TAPE

I try not to be a skeptic, but whenever I play something unfamiliar my expectations are usually pretty low.  I spotted this Makeshift mixtape over at Potholes and after I let it play, I did a double take at my screen.  It’s rare that I get this ooh-wee feeling  that leads to an eargasm (see: Sonnymoon). This kid has talent and I like the way his beats switch up. I could hear Ghostface, Jay Elect or MF Doom on a lot of these. Partake!
