FAT BEATS TO CLOSE NYC & L.A. STORES

To some of you this aint news. To me & the rest of the faithfuls, it is huge! Fat Beats is one of the only few record stores around where you can find your hip hop & other musical needs. Homies from J.Rocc to Shames Worthy to House Shoes have held jobs there. It has been a haven for all things hip hop & surrounding itself with the illest of the ills! Let’s face it… record stores have become obsolete due to them becoming desolate. FACT - No one buys schitt no more. FACT - Everyone downloads. FACT - & this is why there are no more record stores. I remember talking to the homies Tanya Morgan off the record about this very same issue. They wrote a song about it too… like to hear it? Here it goes…

It was hard for me to not react dramatically when I began reading this. As a writer, sometimes I fear that the internet has grown into such a dominant force, that it will cause these kinds of stories to become obsolete. But, like a breath of fresh air, Zoe Chace interviewed people Lauryn Hill has worked with for context and she also got Ms. Hill to talk. Folks all across Negronia and beyond tuned into last night’s BET Awards in anticipation of the network’s second attempt at a Michael Jackson tribute. I didn’t watch live because, well, I ain’t got cable. I am convinced that having access to so much television would make me lazy. And also, I’m poor. In anticipation of the key performances making their way to YouTube, I was able to garner the public’s reaction via Twitter. Interesting to say the least.

Drake, holler at me, let me upgrade your graphic game playboy. Anyways, here’s “Find Your Love“, the new Kanye West-produced single from Drake’s upcoming album ‘Thank Me Later‘ that’s dropping mid-June. Everyone’s interested to see if the album’ll live up to the hype that he’s built up over the past year and a half, but I suggest you go in with low-to-no expectations in order to at least get some degree of enjoyment out of the project when it drops. Singing & shit as you’ve come to expect from Drake but your girl’ll might like it, so you might as well give it a listen.  I’m sure the Drake detesters will try to hate on it regardless, but indulge and let us know your thoughts if you’re a Drake fan.

We’ve given you the Junebug Instros, All Jokes Aside project he did with Dylan Thomas, then the instros to that, few loosies here n there, you then found out he was beau to the lovely JimiJames & since then has seen both their works with F.A.M.E. SULAIMAN- D’ECENT EP

If you’re a D’Angelo fan, you’ll immediately peep that Sulaiman is telegraphing his Voodoo album cover here (except $ kept his shirt on, Ha).

In the span of ONLY eight hours, Suli rhymed over D’Angelo samples mixed by producer Chris P and breathed new life into them. Voila, D’ecent was born. You’d be hard-pressed to find Suli shamelessly plugging himself here, so I wanted to post this for your listening pleasure.
