HENNESSY PRESENTS ‘ART OF BLENDING’ FILM PREMIERE TODAY

Hennessy: the ‘Art of Blending’ documentary, a 30 minute compilation of electric performances, and 1:1 interviews. Hennessy mixed old school and new school at a once-in-a-lifetime event – bringing together musical icons including Chaka Khan, Q-Tip, Mary J Blige, The Roots, Eve, Bobby Brown, Ron Isley and Erykah Badu.

‘Art of Blending’ is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Thibaut De Longeville, best known for his documentary about sneaker culture, ‘Just For Kicks.’

The film will premiere on Hennessy’s Facebook (www.hennessy.com/aob) TODAY, Thursday, June 30th from 5pm EST.

BLIND I SAYS GO! JUNE 2011

Blind I faithful, I almost didn’t do it. I looked at the new music that the world had to offer, at our submissions, and I just didn’t feel like what was presented was strong enough to make it to GO! You know me, them ordinary things don’t move me. I need some shit straight out the movies, word to Mighty Mos. So, being the critical mind that I am, I scoured my music database for what felt right, refreshing, and in taste with my current mood of happiness, hard work, and the chase of perfection. Yessss. This is exactly what the music world has been missing. new Santigold! I played her eponymous debut until I became exhausted of it, gave it a break and came back to it recently. So of course I was pleased when her new single and mini interview popped up on Jay-Z’s Lifeandtimes site.

Her new single, “Go” was co-produced by Santi, Q-Tip and Switch (with Nick Zinner on guitar) and features Karen O. from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This artwork kind of reminds me of a wicked twist on the Roots’ Things Fall Apart cover.  Can’t wait to see her perform this song live.

The final installment of the No Knows themes & what have you that I did for 20X has come. I set out with a mission, & mission accomplished. It was hard, it was challenging but overall, it was a  fun journey through my favorite artists catalogs throughout 20X. Whether it was the str8 up heat to kick start it all, or February’s Dilla, March(ing) 2 the Beats, April’s Love , May’s Stereolab, June’s Portishead, July’s Stevie, August’s Busta Rhymes, September’s Radiohead, October’s Outkast or November’s Slum Village, I hope that one of this years NKD’s complemented your freshness. For the heads who peep the cover, you already kNOw off top, that  for December, I decided to close it out with one of my favorite groups of all time, thus, No Knows Jamiroquai. The british founders Jay Kay, Toby Smith, Stuart Zender, Nick Van Gelder & Wallis Buchanan have supplied the ears with a new school version of funk meets electronic disco via the didgeridoo (commonly found within most of their earlier works as the main bass groove). If you aint knowing, then this NKD will hip you to the game, for those that DO know, you will not be disappointed. I put all the ones for us heads. Well the good folks over @ Bonafide Magazine have been putting out a series entitled Bonafied Beats, and for Vol.6 they called on the talents of Luke Vibert. The schitt is like hoppin in a DeLorean of 1.21 gigawatts to late 98/early 99. In Bonafide’s words…
