WU-TANG CLAN’S DEMO TAPE (1992)

When it comes to the children, Wu Tang is for the children. Puffy is good, but Wu-Tang is the best. The Wu Tang Clan was very influential on my personal musical maturation and that moment at the Grammy Awards when ODB spoke so profoundly is part of the reason why this site is called Blind I For The Kids. Amidst all the current fuckery going on with WTC/Slaughterhouse beefs and what not, I find it important to never forget how strong the Wu was in their collective prime. This gem is their official demo tape from 1992, as gritty as you probably expect, and definitely one to put in your archives for when your kids revert to thinking Wu Tang is a Chinese orange drink. So without further ado, check out this rare joint “Cuttin Headz” and indulge thine self.

“Jade is passionate about her music. She lives and breathes it.” Jade’s father replies when asked about his daughter’s chosen career. “She was born to sing. She’ll die doing it.” Nepotism aside, after hearing her voice it doesn’t take long to see what he’s talking about. Jade has a giant spirit to match her giant voice and the ability to transport her listener to a transcendent state of head bobbing and lip sync-ing very few artists can do.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, a pastors daughter, Jade grew up in a non-traditional Puerto Rican household, “I wish I knew more Spanish and how to cook rice. Mom made Chinese food and blasted Gloria Gaynor.” Music is something that came very naturally to Jade early on, “especially in the shower…at the top of my lungs.” Soon, she began to sing in places outside the confines of her bathroom, and it wasn’t long after that, she began to write her own songs and create her own soundtrack. “It is the process of telling stories,” which she says, “is one of the most amazing gifts anyone can have.”

SKYPE NOW AVAILABLE FOR IPHONE

Skype has finally been released for the iPhone, so now you can jump on the jet and head overseas without having to deal with crazy roaming charges when you call your grandma. Skype for the Blackberry will be available in May, but until then this is what Gizmodo had to say about the iPhone service:

“In an iPhone to iPhone Wi-Fi call test, Phone A heard Phone B perfectly clear, but the person on Phone A sounded like a robot with enunciation problems from Phone B’s side. iPhone to Laptop worked perfectly fine, however.” (source)

Now all they need to do is make more video conferencing phones and I’ll be able to see the ladies when they call me. A man can dream, right?

THE FINGERBANGERZ PRESENT: THE MUSIC MACHINE MIXTAPE

When they aren’t touring around with the Jabbawockeez, tag teaming with a guy named Z-Trip, or yukin’ it up with Carlos Mencia the Fingerbangerz are holding down San Jose and the Bay 24/7 and they make the most noise at their signature bi-monthly party MUSIC MACHINE!

With 10+ years in the DJ/production game, these guys are as versatile as they come. From rocking house parties and high schools dances in their teens, to battling in ITF, DMC, and rocking parties all around the continent in their twenties these dudes have been tested in the arena and they are taking names!

Well enough of my ranting (I have a problem) this is what you really want!

This mix is what you would expect at a MUSIC MACHINE night, but pared down by a couple hours and without the nice visuals of hot women and dope dancers getting funky. Each DJ has his own style and approach to the crowd. If you folks are ever in San Jose on a 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, holla.

I got you.

TAKE THAT RIAA!

Though we do it all the time without hesitation,  file-sharing has hit everyday people like us pretty hard in the wallet.  A girl I know was facing a 10K lawsuit for the files that she downloaded during college. Thanks to a thorough lawyer, a team of students that were also served the legal papers,  and a class-action suit, she wiggled their way out of it. With the use of Mediafire, ZShare and other software, getting anything you want from the net (ahem: Blind I) is super easy, and the boundaries have been blurred. While leaking an album is clearly taking money directly from an artist in a flailing industry, what makes sending a song to a friend any different than playing a CD aloud at a get together, or burning a copy?
