Nature Sounds released J Dilla’s latest album Jay Stays Paid today!Ma dukes over saw it. Pete Rock mixed it down. The title is based upon Dilla production label Pay Jay. Many artists bless some of the tracks from MF DOOM, Blu, Black Thought to his cousin Que D making a return to the mic after some years away from it. The album is Dilla doing what Dilla does best… bringing that HEAT! ”It wasn’t rushed and it wasn’t haphazard,” explains Ms Yancey. ”This album combines what he did in the beginning of his career, what he did in some of our early hospital stays, which was very deep, and some stuff pulled from old floppy disks and DATs. Its mind blowing…this is like the missing links to Dilla’s legacy.”

NEW DILLA ALBUM TO COME OUT THIS SUMMER!

URB MAG just Twitted that a new J Dilla album will be released this summer on Pitchfork. I’m geeked!! Peep what they talkin bout…

Like Tupac, J Dilla’s prolific creative habits resulted in a slew of unreleased material left behind in the wake of his passing. According to Pitchfork, an album of some of these unreleased beats entitled Jay $tay Paid is scheduled for a June 2nd release on Nature Sounds Records. The album is executive produced by Dilla’s mother, Maureen Yancey aka Ma Dukes.

“It wasn’t rushed, and it wasn’t haphazard,” she says. “This album combines what he did in the beginning of his career, what he did in some of our early hospital stays, which was very deep, and some stuff pulled from old floppy disks & DATs. It’s mind blowing…this is like the missing links to Dilla’s legacy.”

Dilla’s idol, Pete Rock, is handling the mixing and arrangement of the album’s 28 tracks. The album mostly consists of instrumentals, however a handful of Dilla friendly collaborators such as Raekwon, DOOM, and Black Thought are contributing vocals to the project.
