I spotted this over at High Snobiety and felt obligated to share it with my fellow Blind I familia. As a huge, longtime fan of Electronic music (I’m from Chicago, House was already in my blood and this wasn’t too far off) this definitely looks like a pretty dope piece on the genre’s recent growth in popularity. I can’t stop playing Joya Mooi.  I first discovered her when I saw this video for her first single, “When I Take a Step Back” from her debut album Hard Melk. This ode to heartbreak, which most of us can relate to, struck me visually with the faded scenes and sun panning o the songstress. Her voice tip-toes over her music, recalling Jill Scott at times and Yukimi Nagano in others.
