NO KNOWS DOPE | AUGUST 20X

Okay so, thus far we have had NKD’s on some str8 up heat to kick start it all, then Dilla, then Beats, then Love , then Stereolab, then Portishead, then we had last months double NKD for Stevie & for this month I had to go with my man Busa Busss!! So many people sleep on Busta Rhymes! I never see him any ANNNNNNNNNNNYBODYS top 10 or top 20 for that matter. I had to dead that by doing a No Knows Busta. 60 pinche tracks! & even THAT was narrowed down. These are just my all time favorite Busta songs of all time. The others will be saved for a sequel somewhere down the road, but for now I think these will suffice. If you’ve always thought like me… then this is FOR YOU! NO KNOWS DOPE | JULY 20X

Half way through the year & so far we have had NKD’s on some str8 up heat to kick start it all, then Dilla, then Beats, then Love , then Stereolab & last month was all about the P. This months theme is dedicated to my favorite artist of ALL TIME! STEVIE!!! Y’all don’t even know or can begin to understand the love that have for Mr.Wonder. I mean, to the point where I had to do not one but TWO NKD’s for y’all! Fiddy (that’s 50) songs & I will tell you right now before u even get to the jump that I went on som Mai Mai schitt by selecting ONLY MY favorite Stevie songs of all time. There are obvious ones I left off purposely & some of em I wanted to put on this round, but I will save those for the 3rd installment to round up the TRILL O.G. somewhere later on down the Blind I road, but for now… enjoy the wonder of the man, the myth, the living legend… STEVIE!

NO KNOWS DOPE | JUNE 20X

Let’s see… We started out w/ str8 up heat to kick start it all, then Dilla, then Beats, then Love , last month was Stereolab & this month is no surprise to the faithfuls that respecognize that P up there on the cover. For those not in the know… That “P” is for Portishead. Geoff Barrow, Beth Gibbons, and Adrian Utley gave us a unique new sound back in 1994 & since then have only released 3 albums with their last one being in 2008. Like Sade, D’Angelo & Dr.Dre (Detox anyone?), Portishead is one of those groups that doesn’t need to come out every month with a new record because their music & legacy alone stand the test of time. I ain’t gonna lie tho… I wish they wouldn’t take so damn long in between albums &  or tour if they were, but I guess we gotta take what we can get, till we get what we want. I for one couldn’t wait so I decided to make this month all about the P. It is filled to the brim of rarities, remixes, covers, tributes, unreleased & of course my faves from the albums they DID release. A definite MUST HAVE for any true P fan or Blind I faithful for that matter. & As always… thank you for your continuous support in making these NKD‘s a part of your life. I do it for you!

NO KNOWS DOPE | MAY 20X

Awwwwwwwwwww gyeah sun! I’m getting out my dreams! Okay so we’ve tackled str8 up heat to kick start it all, then Dilla, then Beats, then Love & now S T E R E O L A B ! ! ! This also like my Dilla tribute has been in the making for some time (since 07). My good friends Andrew Baker, Kenny Chen, Dert & myself share a love for Stereolab like no other. A favorite group of influential freshmakers as well from Gilles Peterson to  ?uestlove to J Dilla. Members Tim Gane (guitar/keyboards) , Lætitia Sadier (vocals/keyboards/guitar), & Andy Ramsay (drums) stepped on the scene back in 1990 straight outta London England. They have had many members come & go since then including Mary Hansen (backing vocals/ keyboards/ guitar), who joined the group in 1992, ten years before her accidental death. I had the pleasure of catching them last year for the first time live & it was phenomenal. Like the No Knows Dilla, this one was just as difficult to compile but I think after 4 years of debating on certain tracks to stay on or be taken off I have narrowed it down to (IMO) the best of the best that makes me love this “groop” so much. Heat spanning from across their vast discography, collaborations, live versions, remixes & rarities … yeah… this is the one! I hope you all eNjOy as much as I do.

The 4OneFunktion is @ it again! They have been bringing the HEAT during this cold ass time up here in the Yay. In the last few months they’ve had dope artists such as Computer Jay, Mr.Dibiase, Devenwho, House Shoes, The Bangerz, JimiJames & the list goes on. Saturday January 30th 20X will be no exception as they bring Producer/DJ/MPC Beast Exile up from L.A. & SF’s own living legend Sake 1 as well as a special performance from the always entertaining F.A.M.E.! DJ’s Mista B & B.Cause will be holding down the ongoing sounds when there is no going on’s on stage & as always the man controlling the crowd A-Ron. If you’ve never been… theeeeeeeeen this might be a good start!

The Blind I faithful know that I have a deep appreciation for “original samples” as well as the producers who take these original samples & flip them into something of their own, creating a NEW & refreshing sound, allowing those who give two shits to become familar with the original song & or the artist themselves.

Just like my other series that I do (aside from NKD), Trace Elements, which showcases various artists & their original song followed by the artist who flipped them, THIS particular compilation focuses on one particular artist… the late-great Cal Tjader!
