THE FRESHMEN – are one of my favorite groups from the Bay Area! Emcee’s Kristo and AWolfe are both charismatic in their lyrics and personality. Their hit singles, Hello There, recently hit #2 on the college music charts, and Dreamin’ California will be a West Coast – Summer Anthem of 2011 and for years to come!

E-40: REVENUE RETRIEVIN ALL DAY

If you like E-40 or not this album should definitely be your flava. Yes released as a double CD, Revenue Retrievin’ Day Shift and Night Shift keeps his name in yo mouth. Forty Water is not alone on this one. He calls in all the respectable bay area heads to provide balance and variety in the songs. With help from the likes of San Quinn, Keak The Sneak, Dru Down, Suga Free, B-Legit, Too Sh$rt, and Snoop Dogg just to name a few, you should keep this slumpin for hours.  This album is not short of music, 19 tracks on both CD’s you get your $’s worth. (Think you can handle that much 40 water?  With all those songs it makes you wonder if some of the tracks are only filler tracks. Could it have been cut down to one project? Well maybe but the mix of sounds makes it tolerable and quite enjoyable.

As the front man for The Click ages he is definitely keepin his game tight with this release. Production is up to par and is consistent with that bay area slump that made him who he is. Jazzy Pha, Lil’ Jon, on some of the beats (not all, thank god) makes it bang harder than the crips and bloods.  Oh yeah I should probably mention there are no auto-tune tracks. Listen to these then hit the jump for the album(s). Fa Shiggady!

THE MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE

Imagine being 11 and in a music class when your teacher decides to kick rocks & your school tells you that they can’t afford a replacement.

Well, 11 year old Paul Sheriff of the Queens Elementary school had that happen to him & took matters in to his own hands by leading the school band & performing small concerts. Peep this super dope story!

Public School 37 is alive again with the sound of music – thanks to one gifted young boy.

For more than a year, the Queens elementary school went without a music program after its band teacher left and the school couldn’t afford a replacement.

Now, the school has a thriving band that plays Ben E. King, Bow Wow and Bob Marley. And it’s directed by one of its students, an 11-year-old pianist and saxophone player who knew his classmates needed music in their lives.

MAIYA PRESENTS…DREAM SUITE VOL. 2

Today is a wonderful day for me to post Dream Suite Vol.2. Why, you might ask? Not only is it my 25^th birthday, but it is also my compilation anniversary with Blind I. A year ago, I tried my hand at Good Morning, and now it is a regular thing for me each month (and I heart it). To add to the jubilation, Obama is going to be our president in exactly a week. All is well in my world. I hope you enjoy the mix. It’s a bit more lively than the last volume but still very mellow. That’s my staple right?

So erry now and then I get some access to some good shows and performances. Usually I record them, most of the time they dont even come out right. I wouldnt even bore you with the chore of tryin to look thru it all. But this time, courtesy of my man pots and pans D at iSpy, we were able to get this beautiful bean footage of the man himself in raw form and need I say UP CLOSE.. Unfortunately for me this venue had 3 floors and I was spinnin’ in the floor below so I missed all this so I feel its right to share with yall.
