Muhsinah is in the process of recording her first studio album, “Dear ____” and she’s calling on her fans to donate to cover the studio and production costs of completing this short film.This idea is part marketing genius and part reaching in my opinion. 2009 Blind I Award Winners

Thank you all for participating in the voting for the 2009 Blind I year-end awards! It was fun to come up with the categories and see nominated artists push their campaigns quite heavily through their own outlets. We had a bunch of nominees on long lists when we started this process, and as we dwindled them all down to the best we knew we had something dope on our hands. We put up the polls, you voted, and now we present to you the 2009 Blind I End Of The Year Award Winners!

Foreign Exchange came and shut it down, winning our Album Of The Year category with 40% of the vote!

Foreign Exchange also picked up the award for the Best Collaboration, with Muhsinah for “Daykeeper“, which received 28% of the vote!

The Best Compilation award went to *Pbbt!’s “Jay.F*cking.Elec” compilation, showcasing some of the best from Mr. Electronica, with 33% of the vote!

The award for Best Live Act went to Mrs. Electronica, the incomparable Erykah Badu, who smashed with 35% of the vote!

The Best New Artist award went to San Jose’s own Don Prahfit, who came away with 33% of the vote!

The award for Best Post actually went to 2 posts – both Maiya & Meezy’s Jay-Z/J Dilla Mashupposts, which came in with 36% of the vote!

The Video Of The Year award went to Don Prafit’s cover of Kanye’s “I Wonder” with 39% of the vote!

The award for Most Improved went to – but of course - Pacific Division, with 31% of the vote!

Foreign Exchange swept every category they were in, including the award for Song Of The Yearwith “Daykeeper” getting 35% of the vote!

This was a tight one, but the Tweak Of The Year with 32% of the vote went to Kanye West at the 2009 VMA’s! *kanyeshrug*

NEXT YEAR we go bigger with MORE categories, MORE nominees, and MORE people to vote! Thanks for participating in this fun little exercise…now let’s see what 2010 has to offer!

December 4th, 2009, San Jose once again will be host to The Changing Same Music and Arts Series at the Agenda Lounge This will be The Changing Same’s 2 year anniversary, which was launched in 2007 at San Francisco’s club Mighty. Co-founded by Ungrammar, The Changing Same’s headlining artists that night for the launch were Prince prodigies J DaVeY along with Platinum Pied Pipers. Since then, Ungrammar has stayed the course with the mission of what The Changing Same is all about – presenting emerging artists that are at the forefront in the future realm of Soul, Electronica, Latin and post Hip Hop sounds – or can we say new sh!t!
