We’re restructuring the site a bit and we plan to roll out some exciting new features in the near future. It’s getting chilly out and rather than spending time outside partying, more of us are bundling up with significant others. I equate fall with romance. Always have and always will. Here we are with Innervisions Vol. 5. For those of you who are new to the compilation series, it was inspired by Stevie Wonder’s 1973 classic record. On these mixes, I include a lot of old-school soul, funk, R&B and blend it with some modern songs for a trippy experience. You should feel like you stepped into a time machine either to the past or the future when you play the songs. I’ve been getting my footing for getting these to sound right for a while, and I think it’s the most cohesive set besides Vol. 3 which is my favorite to date. MELO-X-MORE MERCH EP

Mel0-X is definitely a one man show. He’s a DJ, emcee and producer and he’s worked with some heavyweights. The first time we posted any music from Melo-X was  years ago when he appeared on a mixtape with Theophilus London, Jade, Mickey Factz, Jesse Boykins III and others. Now, on his sophomore mixtape, More Merch, he has songs with the artists mentioned above and remixes of Kendrick Lamar, Quadron and Goapele. VIDEO: MELO-X- GONE BABY

Here’s the first video for Melo-X’s single “Gone Baby” from his More Merch EP that will be released Dec. 7. It was directed by singer Jesse Boykins III. We will definitely be looking forward to hearing the new material. Stay tuned.

MACHINEDRUM – LET IT (FEATURING MELO X)

I present a gem of a release by MachineDrum featuring Melo X entitled Let It. Neck breaking production on the single is notable on all tunes including the remixes by heavy hitters Edit and Lazer Sword. The big boom blap slap is well accompanied by Melo X‘s lyrical delivery. The extra track, Flud, is actually my fave from the release. It’s slow and moody vibe will have you wishing there were more than two minutes in the tune. Word on the street is that “copies have landed” of the EP, but since the official release isn’t until 11/2/10 this single will have to do for now.

Jesse Boykins III teamed up with Melo-X and Trae Harris to create this wondrous remix of Andre3000′s song. The arrangement is beautiful.

In his own words: In Honor of Andre 3000 & The Isley Brothers, I decided to finally produce & record the song I’ve been using to start my live set for the past year. It also marks the end of a great summer filled with love & new experiences. Definitely a thank you to all my believers and supporters. Hope you find your Prototype in 2010.
