We know you guys have been wondering, “What happened to the compilations on Blind I?” for quite some time, right? Well, no worries! We’re restructuring the site a bit and we plan to roll out some exciting new features in the near future. It’s getting chilly out and rather than spending time outside partying, more of us are bundling up with significant others. I equate fall with romance. Always have and always will. To celebrate the critical acclaim swirling around  singer  Jose James‘ Blackmagic record, his folks are throwing  a freebie out for your listening pleasure. This song “Blackmagic” was produced by Flying Lotus–these two seem to make great music together. The Deluxe Blackmagic album has lots of remixes and unheard gems. It can be purchased via iTunes.

You can hear traces of his major influences; Stevie Wonder, Gil Scott Heron and Terry Callier throughout his music. Brownswood Recordings always does the soul dept. justice.

BLIND I SAYS GO! MARCH 2010

It’s March already! Truthfully I couldn’t be happier…the outlook on this year is bright, there’s a ton of work being done so the results are sure to be beautiful, and the phrase Blind I Says GO! has never meant so much as it does right now. You wake up one day, decide to start dreaming and just start DOING. I used to sit back with my philosophical thoughts and say like Kanye did in the chorus to Common’s “The Corner” – I wish I could GIVE you this feeling…but alas this platform that we’ve created of outstanding musical compilations has given me a medium by which I can hopefully inspire our listeners to get up and GO! because thinking is overrated! Ha! With all that being said, I’ve compiled what I’ll honestly say is my favorite – if not Top 5 – Blind I Says GO! compilations, and trust, I now have 42 in total to choose from! Everything flows, everything’s masterful, everything should give you the steam you need to power your engine. So F*CK a groundhog, we’re starting Springtime right now. Ready….set….GO!
