Late last year Blind I put action behind a dream which was to do an album with a handful of artists that we love. This was even before we went out to SXSW & did our Quality showcase. Our motto has always been “Quality Over Quantity,” & we take that very seriously around these parts. You can tell from each staff member’s individual comps to the posts we make. You can go to many sites & see the same thing. You come here & see something different. You have respecognized this since we stepped onto the scene 4 years ago and have become our beloved “faithful.” We appreciate you all. In honor of you all & for those who don’t know about the Blind I movement, we offer you Quality>Quantity The Album. I love working with the homies on progressive ways to share and collaborate on music. So in conjunction with my boys Ill-Literacy we decided to help them out on a song they brewed up this past month. Currently the song’s about 85% done but they felt like they could use the help from the global community in making it more polished. So musicians and producers with talent to spare, help us out!

ILL-LITERACY – IB4THE1

As the saying goes you can accomplish much in life if you just put your mind to it and my boys from Ill-Literacy have proven that over and over again. Since 2005 they have been putting in some serious work. From an Emmy Award-winning short film, two features on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, a solo album, two poetry books, and rocking over 200 shows collectively and individually around the world Dahlak, N.I.C, and Drizzletron are just getting started.

After years of doing shows and educating the masses this trio decided it was time to release their poetic talents into the realm of music. The end result of their time in the lab is a sonic adventure of future funk and intellectual verbal dexterity in the form of their forthcoming album iB4the1.

So feast your ears on these two songs off of iB4the1 after the drop and holla at the Ill-Lits when they hit your hood next.

PRETTY BUOYANT SOCIETY

Sometimes you just want to do something fun and different once and a while. This is the case for some friends of mine, Adriel Luis (Ill-Literacy) and DJ Phatrick (Native Guns). When not touring around the nation, doing shows around the globe, and opening for world class acts, these two fly Chinese brothers combine their love of creativity into something fun and refreshing for themselves.

Adriel’s a well known spoken word poet and Phatty’s flippin’ tracks for LA’s Bambu, so when they decided to create some songs they knew the byproduct would be something beyond their imaginations. I call it guiltless fun.
