I decided to pull from that & make this to give y’all for this months edition of NKD, thus we going back in time, to a place where I was coming up as a MC I bumped the schitt outta everything on this edition. Broken tape decks & everythang! This past Saturday I was up @ my DJ W1shOne’s Audio Playground all day working on a mix of this for y’all but was not able to complete it the way I wanted to within such a short time, thus, expect a mix with songs that are not on this to be intertwined with some of these songs & more a lil down the road this year. FREESTYLE FELLOWSHIP PERFORMING “INNERCITY GRIOTS” TONIGHT [SF]

I’ve told you all countless times how important Freestyle Fellowship is to the development of our hip hop culture & tonight you have a chance to see why. Innercity Griots was the groups 2nd album released on 4th & B’way back in 1993. Their catalog as a whole & individuals runs deeper than Atlantis, but it was THIS album that changed it all & they will be performing this album in it’s entirety followed by their other classic material. I grew up on this album & it changed my life as a aficionado, student & aspiring rapper. I think I turned out okay . It all goes down tonight @ the historic 330 Ritch in beautiful San Francisco! The first time we decided to collaborate on a compilation it was for Grimey, which was three volumes of hardcore hip hop. And  during the process of selecting songs, we discovered that our individual musical tastes were very similar and complemented each other well. We have some dope compilation ideas for the future but for now we proudly present… All That Jazz Vol. 1. Some of the songs are strictly jazz, while others just have the smooth vibe like “Autumn’s Evening Breeze.” In the tracklist, the songs in blue were picked by Maiya and teal by NO and we alternated taking turns. It’s cold outside and the perfect time to throw this compilation on and let it ride.

He recently recorded a track with Geoff Barrow (yes… the man behind Portishead) & as of yesterday, just dropped an album on M9 Entertainment, which is Myka 9‘s label. The Baron has always been known as the San Jose veteran MC with the ill rhymes & overall takeover presence but what most don’t know is his love for punk. Yes. Punk.
