It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from the hermetic genius of Francis Starlite and his band Francis and the Lights. Now, thanks to their Tumblr game, we’ve got two new joints to drop off to you from the creative guru. ‘Eiffel Tower‘ and ‘The Things That I Would Do‘ were created in collaboration with L.A-based group Inc, and the result is the smoother side of Starlite. FRANCIS AND THE LIGHTS | LIVE FOOTAGE IN CHICAGO + IT’LL BE BETTER

Francis and The Lights. Oh buddy. I love it when artists we endorse persist to make amazing music and take over the world bit by bit. The talented group of artists, fronted by Francis Starlite, have been making recent waves as an opening act for Drake on his current tour, but we at Blind I were hip to the game before all that. I must stunt for my team.

Since their introduction to Blind I and the last time they were featured on the site as Spotlight Artists, they’ve been working hard, doing live shows, and most recently dropping their new EP “It’ll Be Better“, available now on iTunes. They sent us over a free MP3 of one of my FAVORITE joints that they had a snippet-dressingroom-recording of awhile ago called “For Days“, now in CD quality and just as dope for you guys to check out/download:

On top of that, I got a chance to check them out while they were in Chicago for a performance and my homie Nick Castle from Jermaine Productions was able to get some good performance footage of some joints you can get on It’ll Be Better — hit the jump to check out the footage and preview the new EP!

TOUR DATES: DRAKE X K-OS X FRANCIS AND THE LIGHTS

Drake’s first headlining gig, the Campus Consciousness Tour, starts April 6th and hits 22 cities all the way until May 8th. Who’d Drake choose to rock with him? Well no other than fellow Canadian K-Os and Blind I Spotlight Artists Francis and the Lights. Based upon the cities they’re visiting they plan to make a killing off the college crowds and spread a bit of environmental information along the way. Good cause, good music, good deal. Hi.

My name is $, and I’m an Aquarius. And I owe you one right? Don’t think I’ve forgotten you. Hopefully you stayed Empowered in the interim. Today I’m feeling the love that everybody sends our way for what we do, how we do it with dignity, with appeal, never force, just encourage…and I said to myself, the thing that makes love LOVE, is reciprocity! So, seeing as how I owe the Blind I faithful, seeing as how Haiti needs our help, seeing as how Teddy Pendergrass just passed…We need love, yo. So I’ma give a gift that’ll keep on giving. It was Maiya’s birthday yesterday and she’s the greatest ever so this tastefully-delayed Blind I Says GO! For January of 2010…is all about the love, baby.
