Well hello! It’s been a minute since, right? The Blind I staff used to crank out compilations so quickly, but I find that the quality of the compilations is so much more thorough when we spend time really playing the music to see what works together. It’s spring! My spirits are super high and ideas and opportunities are blossoming. I’m feeling good and hopefully you are too! There’s no formula or theme to this one; just songs that feel good. KUTMAH – WORLDWIDE FAMILY 2

The second edition to Brownswood’s Worldwide Family compilation showcases tracks compiled by Kutmah, featuring music from Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke, Samiyam, fLako, Gaby Hernandez, Mono/Poly, Dibia$e, Seven Davis Jr., and many others. Kutmah was an integral part of the Los Angeles music community, but was deported back to the UK by Homeland Security. Jeff Weiss for the LA Weekly recently spoke to Kutmah about life after the US which you can check out HERE.

Today, enjoy a video interview with Kutmah, talking about life in Los Angeles and the process of compiling this compilation for Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings. The video was directed and edited by Mario Epsley & Tom Morgan and shot at Eldica Records in London.

Blu and Miss Jack DaVeY are currently on the road for their NewWorldCulture tour. The rapper just released the first single, “Everything’s OK” featuring the J*DaVeY songstress and produced by Flying Lotus. The beat kind of caught me off guard but after playing it a few times I’ve warmed up to it a lot. High energy, for sure. His upcoming album is titled No York, and will will include a heavy roster of producers: Flying Lotus, Madlib, Daedalus, Shafiq Husayn, Knxwledge, Bilal and others.
