SPREE WILSON-THE NEVER ENDING NOW

Atlanta’s own Spree Wilson has a bright future ahead. We’ve been bumping his Weird Science mixtape since 2007, and waiting on more music from the multi-faceted artist (see: singer, rapper, songwriter).  The Never Ending Now is an attention-grabbing glimpse into Spree’s journey, which started with his acoustic guitar and a trip to New York City.  The project features  collaborations with Novel and Esthero, and will most definitely broaden his fanbase.

BLIND I SAYS GO! FEBRUARY 2011

I turn 25 on Saturday, and to echo my current musical mood I decided to make this month’s Blind I Says GO! all about the raps! Well, mostly about the raps. Amidst songs featuring Lupe Fiasco, Madlib, Kidz In The Hall, Curren$y, Mikkey Halsted, Co$$, Blu, Styles P, Freddie Gibbs, Kendrick Lamar, Gucci Mane, Tabi Bonney, Dom Kennedy, Gilbere Forté, Pac Div, Stalley, and Martin & Malcolm, there’s a bit of soul in this mix compliments of Spree Wilson, Esthero, and some unreleased EARLY production from Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes for a R&B singer named Mike E. who was produced by Teddy Riley back when the Neptunes duo was ghost-producing for the legend. MAIYA PRESENTS…ORGANIZED CONFUSION

Hi Everyone. What can I say–it’s been quite a month. For starters, Blind I celebrated our first SXSW showcase (Check out the pictures here) and it was incredible to be in the presence of musical greatness.  It has been a whirlwind for me personally these past few weeks, dealing with moments of jubilation and euphoria to death, grief and setbacks. Music has been my window seat. This compilation was due Monday but I needed to gather my thoughts and get the sound right. It starts out mellow and soothing and ends a bit more chaotic–just how it’s sounded in my head. I hope you relate somehow. Tracks/link next door.

Happy Friday! I told shorty, I said “Look shorty. Just download the Blind I Says GO! Double CD off Blind I and you’ll get all the education you need this year”. Truer shit has never been spoken. Yes, I was late on March’s BISG due to a restructuring of our compilation-posting schedule, but don’t worry, I made it up to you guys big time. And YES, I was supposed to post up April’s BISG on Wednesday but I was too busy plotting world domination. Luckily on Thursday I got around to compiling it and Voila! Two BISGs for everybody in one day, one post. March’s BISG hold a bunch of heat from a hip-hop standpoint, with new joints from Diamond District, Jadakiss, Fam-Lay aka Shark City Click, Cudi, Wale, Justin Timberlake, and others. Guaranteed to be something you can bump in the whip if you’re headed out tonight. Which leads me to April….

BISG April goes hard. Lately I’ve been listening to a bunch of new artists as well as artists that are just new to me, and April was compiled as a shrine to the new ill shit. New One Chance shit starts it off, and that pretty much sets the tone as most of the joints on this BISG are from artists like Telepopmusik, Thievery Corporation, Metronomy, Justice, Prince, Ge-Ology and the like. Definitely for a more keen listener, but packing much heat like the summer do. I know you’re gonna love it cause I’m still playing all the joints on the tracklisting nonstop.
