NEW DILLA ALBUM TO COME OUT THIS SUMMER!

URB MAG just Twitted that a new J Dilla album will be released this summer on Pitchfork. I’m geeked!! Peep what they talkin bout…

Like Tupac, J Dilla’s prolific creative habits resulted in a slew of unreleased material left behind in the wake of his passing. According to Pitchfork, an album of some of these unreleased beats entitled Jay $tay Paid is scheduled for a June 2nd release on Nature Sounds Records. The album is executive produced by Dilla’s mother, Maureen Yancey aka Ma Dukes.

“It wasn’t rushed, and it wasn’t haphazard,” she says. “This album combines what he did in the beginning of his career, what he did in some of our early hospital stays, which was very deep, and some stuff pulled from old floppy disks & DATs. It’s mind blowing…this is like the missing links to Dilla’s legacy.”

Dilla’s idol, Pete Rock, is handling the mixing and arrangement of the album’s 28 tracks. The album mostly consists of instrumentals, however a handful of Dilla friendly collaborators such as Raekwon, DOOM, and Black Thought are contributing vocals to the project.

Whattup Blind I faithful! I truly apologize for not droppin this on the 15th (the day NKD’s are scheduled to drop) but the truth of the matter is that (in the words of my momz) ‘I am burning the candle @ both ends’ by doing ’4 much’ these daze! But ya know what I say… I’ll rest when I’m dead. So with that being said, let’s get to it! I had 5 songs that I had previously selected a month ago for this months edition. The rest was compiled all damn day today. Diz may be familar from the J*Davey posse cut entitled sLAyer (found on NKD:THE WEST COAST EDITION 2008). Since then he & Moonshine have been hard @ work creating a great project entitled Soon You’ll Understand & maybe I will soon understand why they dropped this album for FREE.99!! Cuz I’m saying… yeah I get schitt for free thanks to the semi ghetto blow up of Blind I , but trill spit, if schitt is banging like crip affiliated elephantsâ„¢ , then I make sure to go out & support the artist by having the actual product. Besides… don’t y’all miss reading the liner notes? Am I the only geek in this batch?
