So this was an idea I had back in 2007. $ even made me a cover & everything & I never put it out. I decided to pull from that & make this to give y’all for this months edition of NKD, thus we going back in time, to a place where I was coming up as a MC I bumped the schitt outta everything on this edition. Broken tape decks & everythang! This past Saturday I was up @ my DJ W1shOne’s Audio Playground all day working on a mix of this for y’all but was not able to complete it the way I wanted to within such a short time, thus, expect a mix with songs that are not on this to be intertwined with some of these songs & more a lil down the road this year. Ill drop it randomly so stay TUNEd for that. Until then, go inside my mind/ears & enjoy some NOstalgia.

I’m going to be honest with you kids, Christmas isn’t really one of my favorite holidays. Outside of the whole family aspect (and Jesus. GP are ya wit me!) I could really do without it. But unlike the cover art may suggest (props to the big homie NO for coming correct btw) this comp is not a Bah-Humbug-a-thon. It’s actually a dedication comp. For December 25, 2010 marks the fourth anniversary of the passing of one of the most influential figures in modern day music – and one of my absolute favorite artist across all genres – James Joseph Brown. Yes. Christmas ’06 was a very shitty day for me. I literally slept for the entire day upon hearing the news. It hurt deep knowing that I would never get to see Mr. Dynamite [a]live on stage. But fortunately for myself and for the world (cliche warning) James Brown’s legacy lives on through his music. Now please excuse me while I continue to defibrillate his legacy with this comp. Two discs and 46 tracks strong of associated acts, covers, samples, and The Godfather of Soul himself.

I Got Five On It

Here’s a little something  funky to get your weekend started, dedicated to all those planning to put one in the air during these glorious work-free days.

Oh how I miss the days of nickel bags! Weed prices have gone up like gas! Trying to cop a nick in 2008 is like putting five bucks in your tank: you good for a second, but you ain’t getting far. Especially now that everybody’s trying to smoke that crazy ish. I can enjoy some kush as much as the next chick, but do I really need “that shit that will knock you out”? I could take a Tyelenol PM if I wanted to go to sleep. And I’m definitely straight on that “Death”! A nickle bag of mid-grade, as it was in 2002, would make a Sister quite happy.
