Outkast’s Aquemini album was a true classic. You could put it on and let the entire thing play without a hitch. This CL Atlanta story has each participant in the project weigh in and reflect on the creative process. The behind-the-scenes perspective is ill. It’s like taking the liner notes and digging deeper. CLASSIC OF THE DAY: KRAFTWERK – THE MAN-MACHINE

Don’t like so-called “hipster” music? Blame these guys. But be careful about the assumptions you jump to…Kraftwerk was actually one of the main groups that hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa sampled and spun as he began his career. So in the words of Diddy, take that take that. This is one of my favorite albums of theirs, The Man-Machine, and it’s easy to see how it influenced both hip-hop as well as the myriad of genreless-music that’s out today. Partake and appreciate. Recently, XXL’s site wrote up a comprehensive list of the Ten Best Hip-Hop Remixes of all time. Being a fan of multiple remixed joints over the years, I was interested to see what songs/artists they featured to crack the top ten. Always a great source for true hip-hop commentary and critiques, they didn’t dissapoint, delivering a top ten that I feel is very hard to disagree with. I, however, took the liberty to find these ten songs, the originals, and a little something special to top it all of and educate some of our “younger” visitors who may not be well versed in the history of things.
