I really outdid myself with this one. This…..right here….is my…..most fluid, themed, consistent BISG compilation yet! August’s edition of Blind I Says GO! is giving love to the joints you love but forget to revisit….the Yin to the typical Yang of selections that jump out at us on out favorite records….yes that’s right, the INTERLUDE! When I came up with this concept I had a few special ones in mind that I’d always loved, but I had no idea I’d be able to pick 40 tracks that combined into an hour-long mindgasm of sonic delicacy. Ever since It’s My Heart, Cookie dropped, Jade has been in constant rotation, not only in my play lists but almost every freakin girl I know! Awwwwwwwwwww gyeah sun! I’m getting out my dreams! Okay so we’ve tackled str8 up heat to kick start it all, then Dilla, then Beats, then Love & now S T E R E O L A B ! ! ! This also like my Dilla tribute has been in the making for some time (since 07). My good friends Andrew Baker, Kenny Chen, Dert & myself share a love for Stereolab like no other. A favorite group of influential freshmakers as well from Gilles Peterson to  ?uestlove to J Dilla. Members Tim Gane (guitar/keyboards) , Lætitia Sadier (vocals/keyboards/guitar), & Andy Ramsay (drums) stepped on the scene back in 1990 straight outta London England. They have had many members come & go since then including Mary Hansen (backing vocals/ keyboards/ guitar), who joined the group in 1992, ten years before her accidental death. I had the pleasure of catching them last year for the first time live & it was phenomenal. Like the No Knows Dilla, this one was just as difficult to compile but I think after 4 years of debating on certain tracks to stay on or be taken off I have narrowed it down to (IMO) the best of the best that makes me love this “groop” so much. Heat spanning from across their vast discography, collaborations, live versions, remixes & rarities … yeah… this is the one! I hope you all eNjOy as much as I do.

Late last year Blind I put action behind a dream which was to do an album with a handful of artists that we love. This was even before we went out to SXSW & did our Quality showcase. Our motto has always been “Quality Over Quantity,” & we take that very seriously around these parts. You can tell from each staff member’s individual comps to the posts we make. You can go to many sites & see the same thing. You come here & see something different. You have respecognized this since we stepped onto the scene 4 years ago and have become our beloved “faithful.” We appreciate you all. TRAILER: RUBYHORNET’S CLOSED SESSIONS IN AUSTIN

I’m a huge fan of Ruby Hornet’s Closed Sessions undertaking. I’ve spoken with my homies Virgil, Omar, and RTC over at the RH camp on multiple occasions about their foresight to create such a great idea and execute it with professionalism. I think it’s something we’ll start to see copied more and more as the years pass, but they’ve truly started the ball rolling. Long story short, Closed Sessions Austin was spawned from the original project done at Chicago’s Soundscape Studios, only this time it was during the SXSW week, thus putting a strenuous time limit on completing the recording for the project that hadn’t previously existed when Vol. 1 was created. The adventure, seemingly well-documented and laden with names you’ll know & love, is sure to be an interesting view. This is just the trailer though.

FREESTYLE FELLOWSHIP | PROJECT BLOWED 15 YR ANNY

I grew up on RUN DMC & N.W.A. in L.A. & when I was rolling with The Tunnelrats, my man Dax put me onto Freestyle Fellowship. To Whom It May Concern & Intercity Griots would become the only things I would play & study. These 4 men gave birth to a whole new sound & style that to this day many try to imitate but none can compare. It’s crazy to me that Project Blowed just celebrated 15 years of existence as a separate entity from The Good Life, which was home to Freestyle Fellowship as well as a hip hop Apollo if you will. I swear… I can sit here & continue writing a novel about this whole movement. Anyways, much respecognition to my fam Shames Worthy & Dert for the link.

THE KICKDRUMS – THERE MIGHT BE BLOOD EP

To borrow a line from my brother NO, this shit is banging like crip-related elephants out this piece. I’m a hip-hop head to the grave, but it’s something about well-pieced rock with an undertone of hip-hop that just speaks to my soul! You know, it’s the same feeling that made the Neptunes venture into N.E.R.D. territory. Furthermore, The Kickdrums sound is fairly unrelated to any group I can think of off the top of my head, and they make it all sound so simple yet sooooo good.
