VIDEO: DAVID DALLAS – TAKE A PICTURE

WELL WELL WELL…look who made it to MTV! David Dallas, who Blind I has been up on for a looooong time, just released the visuals for his new joint ‘Take A Picture“. The video, a brainchild of production company Special Problems, sees 7 different directors/animators interpreting 7 parts of the song. Each person was given a segment of the song and access to David Dallas. Each scene was to be shot on a different format: 16mm film, VHS, Stop Motion, 3D Animation, and during the creation of the video, and the directors were not allowed to know what each other were doing. It came out pretty dope & refreshing if you ask me. Indulge!

VIDEO: DAVID DALLAS – TIL TOMORROW

Duck Down’s New Zealand rapper David Dallas has just released the new video for his song “Til Tomorrow”. This is the first song to be released from his forthcoming free album The Rose Tint which will be released in April. The video was directed by Special Problems who have worked with Flying Lotus and recently created commercials with Alicia Keys for HP.

BLIND I SAYS GO! AUGUST 2009

What’s good Blind I faithful?! This past month has been dope experience after dope experience for me, and it’s totally reflected in the way this month’s Blind I Says GO! came out. We’ve dealt with some major losses, made some major gains, but the beauty in it all is that the music sticks around long after we’re gone. David Dallas is the illest thing to come out of New Zealand since Jermaine & Bret. Then again, I don’t know zip about New Zealand so I’m going off how dope the music is. Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, the biggest Polynesian city in the world, David Dallas is an artist with the rhymes and the universal appeal to take his hip hop tales from South Auckland to the world. Formerly known as Con Psy, and one half of award-winning New Zealand Hip Hop duo Frontline, rapper David Dallas is the full package.

Thoughtful lyrics, an effortless feel for flow, rhythm and delivery, and a smooth, distinctive voice – this half Samoan, half European MC has created a style all his own. An eighties baby raised on a diet of Pop, R&B and a strong helping of US Hip Hop. David Dallas’ sound combines his love of East Coast lyricists of the ’90s with the melodic stylings and song-writing of their West Coast counterparts. Interpreted through the voice and slang of a Polynesian New Zealander, and with stories grounded in the normality such a far off country affords. He brings a fresh take on Hip Hop.
