Big ass flyer for a big ass event! I’m proud of my team as we’re an OFFICIAL sponsor along with the OFFICIAL coordinator of the Lollapalooza festival lineup, C3 Presents, our homies at YeaMan! and KnuckleRumbler, and RubyHornet to bring Chicago the OFFICIAL Lollapalooza Hip-Hop Afterparty. Now Stones Throw would kill us if we let you have this for free, but it’s so dope that you’ve gotta listen and hopefully you’ll do the right thing and cop down. Mayer Hawthorne linked up with one of my favorite producers going, the incomparable Nottz, and created this gem of a recording. If you look a the title or the tracks for this mixtape, it’s hard to uncover what in the hell it says. But, this is the third installment of this series for Philadelphia-based producer Knxwledge. Prior to spotting this over at MOOVMNT I was unfamiliar with him. But this 22-track eclectic,  jazzy, yet soulful set  intrigued me so much that I purchased it.  The arrangements  are dope. I been sleeping on posting anything about my man Kero, especially since he just dropped this 3rd album Kinetic World late last month. And boy, is it good. What’s also good is this video. How pimp is it to go shopping in an Asian market and run into some fine ladies, while rapping about marriage? Very pimp. And Kero actually got married a few days ago. Holla! Sam Ock also does a fine job on the breakdowns. Have fun on the European tour homie, you deserve all this.

I’ve seen all my heroes and friends change up their perspectives as they got into their 30′s and started having kids/families. We’re still the same ol’ hood kids inside, just a bit wiser. It was hard for me to not react dramatically when I began reading this. As a writer, sometimes I fear that the internet has grown into such a dominant force, that it will cause these kinds of stories to become obsolete. But, like a breath of fresh air, Zoe Chace interviewed people Lauryn Hill has worked with for context and she also got Ms. Hill to talk. Everyone knows this is no longer an easy thing to do.  She sounds like she’s ready revisit the music world. Listen here and hit the skip for the entire article. Major props to NPR.
