Pardon us for the delay in getting this video up. We all got wrapped up in the holiday debauchery. Anyway, we were delighted to hear that Little Dragon had released a new song since their Ritual Union album. The video is sponsored by Absolut Vodka (helloooo product placement) but it’s pretty dope. Yukimi looks great and all that dancing and jamming in the desert is pretty awesome. “Sunshine” should be added to your summertime playlist for sure. Yeah yeah!  It’s my pleasure to post the first collaborative project between our very own Noah Deeakili and talented producer/emcee Haz Solo. I’ve been working with Haz on a joint compilation and when we were Tweeting about it, Noah informed me that he and Haz had this EP in the works for quite some time. This project features production primarily from Haz and a guest spot from Illingsworth and Rockwell Knuckles. If you’ve ever checked out Haz’s solo stuff and Noah’s joints with Sub Ren, you know you’re going to find some gems on here. Great work guys.

They are delivering the freshness individually and collectively and each member brings something distinct to the table. The latest comes from our beloved Sulaiman and comrade Gzus Piece. The simple looping drum beat allows their lyrical talent to really shine through without any distractions. I was just saying the other day that very few rappers spit at the tempo that Twista is notorious for, then voila here comes Suli stepping it up with the rhymes. This is a song that would work well at a party, in a strip club or any other summertime goodness. I look forward to the Treated Takeover! Fasten your seatbelts.

KUNG FOO GRIP-SONIC DOOM

Whenever our comrade Kenny over at FreshSelects sends us music, we always know it’s worth checking out. Why? For starters, he has impeccable taste in music. And he seemed very enthusiastic about hipping us to the Seattle duo Kung Foo Grip. Looking at the artwork and the song title, you may be expecting something super musical or instrumental.  But this is straight up hip hop. The song was produced by Portland-based Stewart villain and it definitely thumps. In Kenny’s own words:

Yes yes yes! Blind I favorite Knx just dropped a new EP titled Klarity. The cover instantly puts you in that mellow, reflective mind-frame. And when you hit play, your ears will be filled with tracks that are so easy to listen to–whether breezing through some work, taking a road trip or indulging in something amazing. If you’re new to Knx, you have definitely been hiding under a rock, or clearly not visiting Blind I. Make sure you get familiar on his work. It’s superb!

MASTA ACE+ MF DOOM- MA_DOOM: SON OF YVONNE WEB SERIES #1

So yeah. Hip hop vet Masta Ace and our favorite masked avenger have joined forces for an album. Masta Ace will be spitting over some gems from Doom’s Special Herbs project.  Yeeeee! Check out the video and keep in mind that their album is slated for a July 17 release.

MODLEE & VLOOPER-SUNWALK EP

I’ve been a fan of Vlooper & Modlee for quite a while. You may recognize some of their tunes from past Rendezvous compilations. The Canadian duo just released this new titled Sunwalk. And everything from the cover artwork to the vibrant, soulful tracks (which channel Erykah Badu a bit at times) will make you feel sunny. The whole thing is super short and sweet but it’s the type of music you can throw in your speakers first thing in the morning to get you going. Check it out and enjoy.

Their highly-curated selection of posts is consistently on point and you know you’re in for some rare/undiscovered treats whenever you pay the site a visit. BLU- NO YRK MO WRK (RMX X 2.3)

The homie Haz Solo sent over the link for this remix project of  songs from Blu’s No York. There have been a few reworked versions of this project which have included producers like Knxwledge, Von Pea and Suzi Analogue.  NO YRK MO WRK (RMX X 2.3) is a dope assortment of remixes from Brook D’Leau, Black Spade,  Haz Solo and others. Tons of producers with distinctly different sounds, but somehow they all fit together. It also feels verrryyyyy West Coast to me and since I’m a Cali kid, I appreciate the vibes.
