I’ve been waxing poetic (non-stop) about Melbourne-based band Hiatus Kaiyote ever since I heard their debut project Tawk Tomahawk. Singer Nai Palm gives me goosebumps. Such a soulful raw talent. Okay okay okay. It’s now the umpteenth installment of #TreatedTuesday and we have yet to throw any of the music on the site. Shameful, considering the HNIC of Blind I, Sulaiman is a part of this Chicago rap collective. None of the Blind I staff members ever post their stuff on here, so it’s my duty to make sure you all partake in the goodness of their endeavors. “Formal Introduction” is a fitting one to start with because most of the crew appears on this track. ODDISSEE-ODD RENDITIONS

Last week, we posted the video for Oddissee’s fresh remix of Marvin Gaye’s “Ain’t That Peculiar.” Now, the DMV producer/emcee just released Odd Renditions. On this project, he also reworks songs from Bon Iver, Metronomy and K-Os. Very unique spin on each one and the EP will definitely hold you down until he releases his next full-length album. Such a cool video! In Oddissee’s own words: I wanted to share some remixes & edits I put together of various tracks. I remixed songs by K-Os, Bon Iver, Metronomy & one of my favorite artists of all time, Marvin Gaye. After recording vocals to all of them, I felt it was only right to slap a cover on it & release it. The EP is called, “Odd Renditions” & will be available for FREE download on May 15th. The video was done by editing several pieces of footage found of Marvin Gaye performing the song.

Knx fans never have to wait long for a new project and now we’re hitting you with the double whammy! First up is the Wrap.Taypes.Port2[Bootleg]. The first one was one of my favorites. Knx puts his signature spin on rap songs—from the classics to newer stuff as well. The songs sound completely different from the original, and often better in my opinion. The tracks on the Kuntent.EP are mellow instrumentals. I picked one from each project and posted the links to them on his Bandcamp page. Show support! It’s worth it.

Well hello! It’s been a minute since, right? The Blind I staff used to crank out compilations so quickly, but I find that the quality of the compilations is so much more thorough when we spend time really playing the music to see what works together. It’s spring! My spirits are super high and ideas and opportunities are blossoming. I’m feeling good and hopefully you are too! There’s no formula or theme to this one; just songs that feel good. SUB REN + C-NOTE- WE GOT A RUNNER

Just a few weeks back, we posted the video for C-Note’s song “Power of the Third” which featured Blind I’s very own Noah Deeakili. And now Noah just informed us that C-Note will be producing the entire Go Green album for his group Sub Ren. “We Got A Runner” is the first single from the album (which will be out soon). C-Note and Sub Ren definitely have musical chemistry, so we’re looking forward to hearing the project! And if you’re in the Bay Area, make sure you enter our ticket giveaway for Latryx this weekend, where Sub Ren will be hitting the stage.
