Enjoy the melodic soul sounds of, Melanie Fiona and Marsha Ambrosius, along with special guest, the Bay Area’s own – London (Lights. Camera. Action!) and DJ D-Sharp in the mix. VIDEO: MY MIC SOUNDS NICE: A TRUTH ABOUT WOMEN AND HIP HOP

Sistertoldja just posted the tailer for My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women and Hip Hop and hopefully many of you caught it already. If not, you can watch right now. In hip hop today, there are so few female emcees prevailing. Aside from Nicki Minaj, there is a major lack of representation of the ladies in the genre–which has even resulted in many award shows eliminating the category all together. BET did an excellent job of interviewing industry veterans like MC Lyte and making the connection to new school artists. It’s informative from a historical perspective and highly entertaining.
