RUBYHORNET PRESENTS CLOSED SESSIONS VOL. 1

Now this is a stellar project. The good homies at RubyHornet, in conjunction with Chicago-based Soundscape Recordings, brought together producers and artists to formulate a great original project. The EP was recorded entirely in Chicago, IL at SoundScape Studios with visiting as well as local artists. Pretty much, when an artist came to Chicago, they brought them to SoundScape, made them comfortable, gave them access to the production catalog and just got out of their way.  The EP features artists such as Bun B, Kidz In The Hall, Emilio Rojas, GLC, Truck North, Big Pooh, Skyzoo, Rhymefest, Chip Tha Ripper, Hollywood Holt, Million $ Mano, U-N-I, Amanda Diva, Tanya Morgan, Curren$y and more.

Yep, heavy hitters. You’re gonna be even more impressed once you indulge. Check out my FAVORITE shit off the project, “Fresh Academy” featuring Kidz In The Hall, Chip The Ripper, Donnis, and Mikkey Halsted.

BLIND I SAYS GO! MARCH 2010

It’s March already! Truthfully I couldn’t be happier…the outlook on this year is bright, there’s a ton of work being done so the results are sure to be beautiful, and the phrase Blind I Says GO! has never meant so much as it does right now. You wake up one day, decide to start dreaming and just start DOING. I used to sit back with my philosophical thoughts and say like Kanye did in the chorus to Common’s “The Corner” – I wish I could GIVE you this feeling…but alas this platform that we’ve created of outstanding musical compilations has given me a medium by which I can hopefully inspire our listeners to get up and GO! because thinking is overrated! Ha! With all that being said, I’ve compiled what I’ll honestly say is my favorite – if not Top 5 – Blind I Says GO! compilations, and trust, I now have 42 in total to choose from! Everything flows, everything’s masterful, everything should give you the steam you need to power your engine. So F*CK a groundhog, we’re starting Springtime right now. Ready….set….GO!

DD172 and Under100 put together another crazy night. I ran through with Dan on Tuesday to check out a special performance from the Cool Kids who had friends Stalley, Mikey Factz, Jay Electonica, Amanda Diva, Curren$y and more in the building with many jumping on the mic for an extended cypher. Word was that the Black Keys and Mos Def would be making a late night performance, but around 12:30 the show ended, supposedly due to cops and a noise complaint, and the show turned into a mini party upstairs in the gallery space. – Keap Hope
