When Little Brother began to unravel, I think the music world let out a collective groan. The synergy between 9th Wonder as a producer and the lyrical prowess of Phonte and Big Pooh was never matched when they ventured outside of their trio. “Not Here Anymore” is the first single from Phonte’s upcoming solo album, Charity Starts at Home.  Gotta love the Rose Royce sample! THE BEAST & NNENNA FREELON PRESENT… THE FREEDOM SUITE

I hope you all will grant me a supreme late pass on this one. But, I wanted to do my due diligence and post The Freedom Suite, hosted by 9th Wonder with guest appearances by Phonte, Yazarah, Geechi Suede and others. A little bit about the project: Jazz vocalist and multi Grammy nominee Nnenna Freelon joins hip-hop quartet The Beast to release Freedom Suite: a 10-track collection of creative reflections on jazz and hip-hop.

VIDEO: 9TH WONDER PRESENTS THE SOUL COUNCIL

In a time where most producers are running a one or two man operation, it’s refreshing to hear about production teams like The Soul Council, which 9th Wonder has formed under his label It’s A Wonderful World Music Group (IWWMG). This video breaks each member and their production aesthetic.  Between the five of them collectively, I think we will have a lot to look forward to musically. ROCK THE BELLS ANNOUNCES LINEUP FOR 20X

Looks like we got a new trend on our hands this summer. Artists have been performing the album’s that set it off for them in their entirety as of late to draw the heads to a show that the heads would normally give up on. Let’s face it. They downloading your new schitt & they give a fuck if you performing down the way way unless it’s with so n so & so n so & so n so. OR you perform the schitt that made them fall in love with you to begin with. This is where we are @. Deal with it. I aint mad either. Cuz yeah… this makes me want to go. Rumor’s say that Lauryn will be added to the bill to perform the whole Miseducation (URB went as far as droppin it on their site/zine yesterday… I call malarkey, but we’ll see, it’s still early) I also heard RUN DMC may do a few dates… I dunno. I can’t call it yet. What you think of the line up thus far tho & all the trill schitt I just spoke? Your thoughts…

9th? WTF? Yeah… I’ll let Pooh tell it.

“We decided to give that song to people for two reasons. First, the people have been asking for another 9th/Little Brother song since this is the last Little Brother album. We had intended for that song to be an iTunes bonus track but certain circumstances led us to leak it, which leads to the second reason: We got word late Friday from our distribution company that iTunes took the song down following a call from 9th or someone in his camp. I feel that if he didn’t want the song out then he could have easily contacted any one of us (Big Dho, Phonte, or myself) and explained his reasoning and the issue would have been dealt with accordingly. Instead we find out on some “oh yeah, I forgot to tell” type shit while trying to figure out other information. “Star” was recorded in 2005-2006 for use by 9th on his Wonder Years album that has yet to get a release date.

Super geeked to see 9th Wonder tweet about this track when I was at the airport earlier today. I’ve been following this duo since David Banner spoke to my class last year and announced it himself.
