Standing In the B-Girl Stance

Rarely can you find a gallery fully dedicated to bold, street-focused, abstract art from WOMEN all over the world. The walls of New York City’s Showroom Gallery were adorned with unique pieces ranging from graffiti art to fashion, to romantic portraits and cityscapes.Hip-Hop pulsed through the canvas at the Crossover event put on by YOUNITY. The newly established organization aims to provide an international forum for female artists, designers and photographers to showcase their work. Created by graf artist Toofly and Alice Mizrachi, YOUNITY will break down barriers for aspiring young artists and give them the resources to grow.

Crossover represents the network and growing communal support for YOUNITY initiatives. Reinventing graffiti. Giving female artists a forum. Spicing up a bland white wall. The art is dope and it’s for sale. The pieces you see come from women all over the world from South Africa to Europe.

Everything from a detailed Michael Jackson on the wall to an old-school high-top Reebok made out of cloth were reminders of the way our culture has permeated the arts. So give the organization a nod (http://www.theyounity.com) and check out the pictures.
