HISTORY: CHICAGO HIP HOUSE DOCUMENTARY 1989
Having graduated with a degree in English and Comparative Literature I was drilled with the importance of the history and the origins of words, people, and movements. This nice, short documentary showcases the often neglected offshoot of House music, Hip House. I remember De La Soul during the 90′s pumpin’ out Hip House tunes to the masses.
Hip House was revolutionary in the fact it fused two different genres of music together (besides the “Run DMC x Aerosmith” joint) during a time when House music was still looked down upon as “gay” music.
Big ups to my boy Co-Flo (Mind Body Flo) for this important bit of musical knowledge.
