WHAT IF THERE WERE NO MORE DVD’S?

When I say Technicolor what comes to your mind? Perhaps the logo at the end of the movies we watch, or the last line of the credits. How about the process that has been putting color in films since 1922. Well now they also are the company that produce the majority of those nice shiny DVD discs that Hollywood burns its films on, which we later rent at our Blockbusters/Netflix, etc. and buy and put in our movie library. What if on a massive scale they just stopped?  Think about it, if all those millions of discs don’t get made.

Well my friends the recession maybe claiming yet another one of our most necessary things to keep this economy flowing. The parent company of Technicolor, Thompson SA, is having a hard time getting by and is looking for financial assistance or a credit solution to stay afloat. Now I know your probably thinking what does this mean to me? Well, If nobody purchases Technicolor, or at least takes on their processing capabilities and eventually contracts, then it’s entirely likely we’ll see a serious shortage of shiny silver platters hitting market in the coming months. Finding the most anticipated titles could be very slim – or their releases postponed or canceled entirely.

Im sure the flow of money from us buying DVD’s and going to see movies is one of those factors keeping money flowing thru not only our economy, but globally because they are sold worldwide. So if movie producers have no medium to print their warez on, what will happen then? We all covert to Blu-ray? (and bow down to Sony? NEVER)  Then if you do find a movie on DVD it’ll be so expensive you wont even be able to buy it without giving up a body part or family member. SHEEEIITT!!!

The light at the end of the tunnel is that its been reported that the French government may help out. Let’s hope cuz I’m tryin to get that new A-Team movie when it comes out next year. :.P
