MGMT – METANOIA EP
Boy they bout freaky as hell, but MGMT keeps on bringing heat. The Metanoia EP (click HERE to download) is one track, 13-minutes long. A fairly literal approach to the recent conversations I’ve ben having with others about the epic Resurgence Of The Single. The Beatles did this back in the day and defied what the concept of a single was supposed to be by recording Hey Jude at 7 minutes when everyone else’s singles were 3. Anyone with a good ear see a strong musical resemblance to Queen?

I am sure you’ve heard ‘em, The Mars Volta. They have had long songs for years. They even edited one (The Widow) for the radio, but not since. That’s dope. They, and MGMT, seem to be making the music they want, not what certain top people want. More power to ‘em.
MGMT rock
Long songs are nothing new, nor old-school by any means, and i have to admit there are so many awesome resemblances. Sometimes I hear the Beatles, others Queen, and sometimes even The Who. But it’s still pretty much all MGMT.
Jeez, I never know what to expect from then. They’ve got this mellow-yellow single, and then you go and listen to the funkadellic Electric-feel Justice Remix and it’s a blast to the disco-era or some Marvin Gaye knockoff.

awesome song, what I notice more than anything is the resemblance between this song (the guitar playing more specifically) at 7 minutes to something I would hear on obscured by clouds by pink floyd
